Ordination of Charles Spence Freeman to the Ministry of Teaching Elder,
and Installation as Pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church, Gainesville
February 8, 2015, 3:00 p.m.
Please join us for this joyous event in the life of Grace Presbyterian Church, Gainesville. As this is Dr. Freeman’s first call he will be both installed as the pastor at Grace and ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA). Visiting ministers and guests from throughout St. Augustine Presbytery, including Steve Benz, Transitional Executive Presbyter, will be in attendance.
Both ordination and installation are acts of the presbytery, and so they are performed by a commission created by the presbytery to represent it. The commission consists of the following individuals, who will participate in the service:
- Rev. Cynthia Montgomery, Moderator, Presbytery of St. Augustine
- Rev. Joshua Braley, Pastor, Bethlehem, Archer
- Rev. Jeffrey Welch, Pastor, Dunnellon
- Janis Bomar, Covenant
- Dorothy Nevill, Grace
- Rebekah Rodgers, McIntosh
The guest preacher will be Dr. Paul Galbreath, Professor of Worship and Preaching at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Galbreath was Dr. Freeman’s mentor and advisor while he was a student at Union. The sacrament of communion (by intinction) will be offered. Also, there will be a special, surprise musical event that I am certain you don’t want to miss. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
Dorothy Nevill, Moderator Of the now defunct Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC)
